How to Be Irish in Philly

How to Be Irish in Philly This Week

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Here’s how the week is shaping up.

Saturday night, Nathan Carter brings his Celtic country show to the Keswick Theater, 291 N. Keswick Avenue in Glenside, Montgomery County. The show starts at 8. Carter is hugely popular all by himself, but for this concert he is also joined by Celtic Woman alum Chloe Agnew. He has a superb band as well. Carter was a big hit a few months back at the Irish Center. Here’s another chance to catch his act.

Also, we recently posted a podcast interview with Carter. Give it a listen here.

Sunday, head down the shore for a great show featuring Neil & Cormac with special guest Bill Whitman at Anglesea Pub, 116 West 1st Avenue, in North Wildwood. The show starts at 4 p.m.

On Memorial Day, you have to check out the annual Memorial Day Irish Fest at the Cannstatter Club, 9130 Academy Road in Northeast Philly. The day features Celtic Connection, the Joe McCardle Band and the Shantys, with dance performances by the Timoney Dancers. There’ll be vendors and plenty of great food and drink. $12 at the gate.

Next Sunday, another huge Irish Festival, and this one’s absolutely free. It’s the annual Philadelphia Irish Festival at Penns Landing, 101 South Columbus Boulevard on the waterfront. If you’ve never been, by all means go. It’s a great way to get your Irish on, with terrific music, vendors and crafts, food and drink, kid activities, and dance.

We have more on the festival here.

Stay safe, people, and see you next time.
