About Us

What is there to say about Irish Americans in the Philadelphia area? Believe it or not, people do ask us that. They assume that, once we get past the Guinness, leprechauns and St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll have exhausted all the possibilities.

Not so.

In the Delaware Valley, it is possible to learn the Irish language, join a pipe band, play Irish football, race an Irish fishing boat on the Delaware, attend a Celtic worship service, earn Irish studies credits at Villanova, commemorate the heroes of the Easter Rising, celebrate Joyce at the Rosenbach (and view selections from the author’s “Ulysses” manuscript), and reenact Civil War battles as a member of the 69th Pennsylvania Irish Volunteers. Of course, there’s the beer and the music and the dance and the parades, too.

But there’s so much more–and we bring it all together for you under one roof. More than that, we give you the tools to become a full participant in this wonderfully rich culture.

If our Irish roots are showing, well, so be it.

To be clear, irishphiladelphia.com is labor of love only. We are self-supporting. We take no ads, except those that help out local Irish organizations or for those kind folks who provide in-kind services for us. And those ads, all of them, are unpaid. We make no profit, nor do we intend to.

We promise to retain our independence, integrity, and our respect for our audience. Hope you like it.
