We have lots of Irish-ness to keep you happy this week, including music, dance and probably some adult beverages along the line.
Here’s what’s on:
Friday, July 16
The John Byrne Band takes the stage for a drive-in concert sponsored by People’s Light and Point Entertainment tonight at 39 Conestoga Road in Malvern, starting at 6:30 p.m. The band will be performing the music of Shane MacGowan and The Pogues.
This is one hot ticket: Which is to say you can no longer buy tickets online, but if you move fast you can still score them by phone at 610-644-3500. (Or so the ticket office told us at noon.)
The show takes place on a raised stage behind People’s Light. Tickets are $75 per car up to five passengers (not including kids under 12). You’ll be assigned a parking spot and an adjacent “Home Space” so you can set up your lawn chairs. Get there no later than 6 p.m.
Saturday, July 17
It’s St. Patrick’s Day in the Summer at Sly Fox Tastin’ Room, 331 Circle of Progress Drive in Pottstown. Tunes by Raymond Coleman, Poor Man’s Gambit and the John Byrne Band, along with Irish dancers. It costs $15 to get in. That includes two brewskis and a chance to win a trip to Ireland. The fun starts at 3 p.m.
Sunday, July 18
The trio of Maggie’s Boots will check into Allen’s Lane Train Station, 7210 Cresheim Road, in Philadelphia’s Mount Airy neighborhood, starting at 11:30 a.m. If you love Irish traditional music, it’s just the ticket. (We have a story on Maggie’s Boots here.)
Sunday, July 25
Maggie’s Boots is back, this time playing a show at Rigby Mansion, 523 E Church Lane in Philadelphia, starting at 1 p.m.—with a traditional Irish music session to follow, which sounds like tons of fun.
