It’s a short week for Irish stuff because … Christmas. (Merry Christmas, by the way.)
But fear not, there are still a couple events and activities to get you in the Irish holiday spirit.
Saturday, December 21
Here’s one of the hands-down best ways to celebrate that holiday. It’s an American Celtic Christmas at the Keswick Theater 291 North Keswick Avenue in Glenside.
This show goes back to 2012, and it just keeps getting better and better.
If you love Jamison and John Byrne, you’ll love this event, which also features other super guest musicians and the American Celtic Christmas Irish Dance Troupe.
American Celtic Christmas is a blend of traditional Irish, pop and holiday tunes, all fused together into one great performance. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7:30.
Thursday, December 26
Celebrate the day after Christmas—the feast of St. Stephen—in a distinctively Irish way. Go to the 20th annual Wren Party.
Sponsored by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann-Delaware Valley, an organization that celebrates traditional Irish music, dance, language and culture, the Wren Party begins at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 235 Limekiln Pike in Glenside, Montgomery County.
Lots of festive Irish tunes and dancing, and fun for the whole family.
Friday, December 27
Finally … take in a great show featuring The John Byrne Band playing the music of Shane MacGowan and the Pogues at the Locks at Sona, 4417 Main Street in Manayunk. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors at 6:30.
And that’s all the fun for this week. Once again, please do have a happy and peaceful Christmas.
