We’ve had festivals of one kind or another for a month—and it’s not ever. There’s a great one in New Jersey this weekend.
Here’s what’s up.
Saturday, October 12
The Smithville Irish Festival kicks off at the Village Greene of Historic Smithville in Galloway, N.J. They’ve got a full schedule of music on two stages, dancing, food, pipers, vendors, and more.
Sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Cape May County Division II and all Irish Martyrs, the festival starts at 10 a.m.
You’ll recognize some of the bands—they’re among the best in the area.
Birmingham Six will be on the main stage, along with Jamie & The Quietmen. In the Gazebo, it’s John O’Callahan and Bill Felix and Tom Brett.
Sunday, October 13
The Smithville Irish Festival continues! Starting time 11 a.m.
On the main stage, it’s Jamie & The Quietmen and the Shantys. In the Gazebo, Oakwyn and Bill Felix and Tom Brett.
Thursday, October 17
The venerable, not to be missed Timlin & Kane will appear at one of their old stomping grounds, Brittingham’s, 640 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. If you haven’t heard them—and that’s hard to believe, given their longevity—by all means, do.
Saturday, October 19
Check out the First Ever Casino Night, sponsored by the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and benefiting the Duffy’s Cut Project and the Friendly Sons’ Scholarship Endowment at Immaculata—two great causes. To be held at a Private Barn Venue, 6 Castlebar Lane in Malvern, starting at 6:30.
You’ll get a stack of chips for playing beginner-friendly poker, craps and blackjack, with live music by Raymond McGroary. There’ll be an open bar, hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Check out the outdoor cigar bar, too.
Tickets and more details here.
That’s all for this week.
See you next time!
