You have one busy week ahead of you—and actually most of the area’s Irish activities are crammed into just this one weekend.
Here’s what’s happening:
Saturday, September 14
It’s the final day of the Philadelphia Ceili Group Traditional Irish Music & Dance Festival, one of the premier events in Philly’s Irish social calendar. If you like Irish music and dance, you’ll find it all day and into the night, capped off by a big concert headlined by Tony DeMarco and Atlantic Wave. There will also be workshops all day, focusing on everything from genealogy to tin whistle to the Irish language. There are kid-friendly activities, Celtic vendors and lots more.

Also Saturday, you can celebrate the 2019 Commodore Barry Day at the Commodore Barry Bridge, with a wreath laying and ceremony by the Ancient Order of Hibernians at the Barry Monument in Bridgeport, N.J. Free parking is available next to the Delaware River Port Authority Administration Building.
Mass follows at the Gloucester County AOH Hall at about 12 noon. The hall is at 200 Columbia Boulevard in National Park, N.J. Free luncheon after that.
Because it’s roughly halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll find two events on Saturday, including festivities at Gatsby’s Bar & Grill, 4936 Pennell Road in Aston, starting at 3 p.m.
The event is hosted by Sons of Thunder, featuring 10 hours of live music, featuring Johnnydew, followed by Zero Hour.
The same day, another party kicks off, this one at Molly Maguire’s Irish Restaurant & Pub, 197 Bridge Street in Phoenixville. There’ll be a big tent filled with tunes and other activities, including the O’Shenanigans, Irish Thunder Pipes and Drums, local Irish dance schools, food, vendors, and more. The event begins at 11 a.m. and goes on for many fun-filled hours. $5 cover fee. Free admission for 20 and under.
Saturday night, Padraig Stevens & Leo Moran of the Saw Doctors will appear at the Locks at Sona, 4417 Main Street in Manayunk. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Sunday, September 15
You’re invited to a flag raising ceremony at the Irish Memorial, Front and Chestnut in Olde City. The event celebrates the Irish American Business Chamber & Network’s 20th Anniversary. It starts at noon.
There’s a big concert at St. Kevin’s Church in Springfield, Delco, featuring Emmet Cahill. St. Kevin’s is at 200 West Sproul Road. Emmet is the former lead singer of Celtic Thunder. He’s sold out Carnegie Hall. It’s a good bet he’ll do pretty well in Delaware County. Details here. The show starts at 2 p.m.
If you’re headed down the shore and you just haven’t gotten your fill of halfway to St. Patrick’s Day parties, check out Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones, appearing at Josie Kelly’s Public House, 908 Shore Road, Somers Point. The show starts at 8 p.m.
Friday, September 20
Capping off the week is what promises to be a really great show by The High Kings at Sellersville Theater, 24 West Temple Avenue in Sellersville. Tickets are $35 to $49.50. The show starts at 9, doors open at 8:30. Info and tickets here.
