How to Be Irish in Philly This Week

There’s a lot of music on tap for this week, along with a fund-raiser and what promises to be one fun bowling night.

First off, for those of you who make last-minute plans, two opportunities for music tonight.

At Dubliner on the Delaware, 34 North Main Street in New Hope, catch the always entertaining Gerry Timlin’s show, starting at 7:30.

Also tonight … Jamison Celtic Rock at Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 39, 7229 Tulip Street in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia. The show starts at 9 p.m. and runs through the wee hours. It’s open to the public, and there’s no cover.

Get set to help out a great cause on Sunday. There’s a fund-raiser for the Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade, starting at 3 p.m., at Hanrahan’s Irish Pub, 690 Burmont Road in Drexel Hill. Catch the NFL conference championships, and treat yourself to bottle beer, wine and well drinks, along with tasty food. There’ll be door prizes, a 50-50 and musical entertainment. It’s 30 bucks at the door.

Also Sunday, up at the Sellersville Theater, the incredible fiddler Eileen Ivers—a nine-time All-Ireland champion, Grammy winner, and Riverdance and Cherish the Ladies vet—will appear in concert with her band. Doors open at 7. The show starts at 7:30. Sellersville Theater is at 24 West Temple Avenue in Sellersville. This promises to be a killer show. Info here.

Next Saturday, join the Notre Dame Ladies Gaelic Football Club for Bowling Light at MacDade Bowl, 2105 MacDade Boulevard in Holmes, Delaware County. The fun starts at 5 p.m. and runs through 7. The $20 admission fee includes shoes. It’s BYOB, and there will be raffles.

Get out and get Irish.
